Here is everything that you need to know about how to knockout your opponent in UFC 5.

How to knockout in UFC 5

The first thing worth noting is that there isn’t a ‘knockout button’ as such. Whilst other combat titles such as the WWE 2K franchise or AEW Fight Forever will allow you the opportunity to build up to a finishing manoeuver, UFC 5 does not offer such a luxury.

Instead, you will have to use your intuition to decide when you should go on the offensive, and when you should stay a little more reserved in order to avoid being knocked out yourself.

Here is what we’ve learned when it comes to knockouts in UFC 5.

Stamina is key

We cannot stress this enough, you’re not going to knock your opponent out if your stamina is low. You need a healthy amount of stamina before you go on the offensive, and look to exploit your opponent when theirs is low.

You will lose stamina gradually throughout the fight when you are moving or throwing strikes at your opponent, combination strikes will use much more stamina than singular strikes.

Missing your shots will also cause you to lose stamina at a high rate. Make sure you are in range when you are attempting strikes as if you aren’t you will lose stamina quickly and leave yourself susceptible to being on the wrong end of a knockout blow.

Exploit injured areas

This may seem obvious, but you’ll improve your chances of a knockout if you attack your opponent in an area of their body that you have already damaged earlier in the fight.

However, do be careful, as you don’t want to become predictable. For example, if your opponent realises that you are only attacking their head, then they will be able to avoid your advances and in doing so, improve their chances of countering you.

So make sure that you target one area, whilst also dealing damage to another in order to prevent your opponent from predicting your next move. Landing a heavy blow to a weakened area of your opponent’s body will improve your chances of a knockout.

Know your fighters strengths

Our final piece of advice is to know the strengths of your fighter.

For example, if you are entering the octagon with a fighter known for their kickboxing prowess – the likes of Israel Adesanya or Max Holloway – then you should be looking to land heavy blows with your feet if you’re aiming to knockout your opponent.

Similarly, if you are using a fighter with a high punch power – think Derrick Lewis or Sergei Pavlovich – then don’t waste your time trying to get knockouts by kicking your opponent in their head.

Play to the strengths of your fighter and you’re far more likely to sned your opponent spiralling towards the mat.

That is everything that you need to know about how to score a knockout in UFC 5.
