Nintendo has surprised fans by not only announcing details of next month’s free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but also a new premium DLC entitled Happy Home Paradise.

The Happy Home Paradise will be available from your island’s airport, tasking you to operate a new holiday home resort. You’ll get to select from various biomes, customise the exteriors and interiors and decorate mini-islands for clients. In doing so, you’ll earn a new currency known as Poki, which you can then use to customise a central Paradise hub area.

Just like your home island, this hub is customisable with a range of buildings like schools or cafes. These buildings will attract more potential clients, and you can get even more still from amiibo figures and cards. There’ll also be a Happy Home Network, allowing you to revisit former clients and custom builds by other players. You’ll also be able to unlock building features like partitions, which can then be used on your home island.

The free Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC update meanwhile, heralds the return of Brewster’s coffee shop The Roost. You’ll be able to buy a pigeon milk latte from him as well as chatting with villagers. Kapp’n also makes his return, and will ferry you to a new out-of-season island to help you fill your Museum easier. Harv’s Island gets a revamp with an all new marketplace, featuring stalls from many of your favourite characters.

There’s a new group stretching exercise, and a cooking mechanic that sees you make dishes from vegetables you can grow. Gyroids also make their return to the series, which you can now customise. There’s new house customisation styles too, and your home can now store up to 500 items.

While the update will be free, the Happy Home Paradise DLC will set you back £22.49. However, as a final surprise, the company has announced it’ll be included in the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack for no extra cost. More on that in a sec.

The Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC and the 2.0 update will both arrive for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on November 5, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
