The new Fortnite season has resulted in another explosion of concurrent players. Despite Season 5 being out for only a few hours, it’s already broken the record for the most concurrent players since the public player counter was released. Considering how amazing the season is, this comes as no surprise.

Bringing back the Fortnite OG season has turned out to be the right move for Epic Games. It wasn’t hard to predict that the record for the most concurrent players would be shattered with its release. However, we are still in the early stages of the season, and the record will likely be broken a few more times.

Update: The first day of Fortnite Season 5 peaked at 5.88 million players. The peak occurred around 4 PM Eastern Time.

How many Fortnite players are currently online?

A few months ago, Epic Games released the public player count in Fortnite. Thanks to this, we now know how many players are currently in the game. The previous record was set at the beginning of Chapter 4 – Season 4 with 2.82 million players. However, the OG season has already broken it.

In the first few hours of the new Fortnite season, the concurrent player count went all the way up to 3.91 million, a 38.6% increase. Considering that the videogame keeps having more than 2 million concurrent players throughout the day, the record will likely be broken once again.

It’s important to note that this is a record for the public player count. Fortnite has had more than 10 million concurrent players on several occasions, and the all-time record is 15.3 million players who gathered to witness The Devourer of Worlds live event in Chapter 2 – Season 4.

Interestingly, Fortnite Season 5 will have another live event. The event will likely come out in early December, on the last day of the season. Once this happens, we expect the player count to skyrocket once again and reach at least 10 million.
